Mobarakeh Steel closed at its highest since 18 January 2026 after 103 sessions without a trade, on the day Tehran's index closed red (Monday, 14 September 2026)

FOLD (Mobarakeh Steel of Isfahan) recorded its highest closing price since 18 January 2026 on Monday, 14 September 2026. US Treasury Secretary Says Iran's Gasoline Queues Are the Result of the Economic Blockade

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday, September 14, that long gasoline queues in Iran are the result of Washington's economic blockade. Describing the campaign as the largest economic pressure campaign in the world against a country, he framed it as a response to Iran's pursuit of a nuclear bomb. Bessent also said the United States has held constructive talks with China about Tehran's financial ties, and that the discussions would continue this week and at an upcoming meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. According to Ecoiran, the US Treasury had earlier said on Monday that it would meet representatives of international financial institutions this week to discuss the economic pressure campaign against Iran.

Wall Street Banks Expect Fed to Raise Rates by 25 Basis Points Wednesday

More than 10 major Wall Street banks, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley, expect the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its meeting on Wednesday, September 16. According to the CME FedWatch tool, markets are pricing an 87.3 percent probability of the hike. A similar tool on Investing.com showed a 91.8 percent probability of the rate reaching the 3.75 to 4 percent range as of 11:35am ET on Tuesday, September 15, up from 89.5 percent the previous day. A 0.3 percent rise in core consumer prices in August and oil climbing back above 100 dollars have also pushed banks such as Barclays, Citigroup and Bank of America toward expecting tighter policy. Kevin Warsh, a former Federal Reserve governor, had earlier warned at the Jackson Hole symposium that more action would be needed if underlying inflation did not return to target quickly.

Bank of Russia Warns Crypto Growth Could Weaken the Ruble

In its new policy guidelines for 2027 to 2029, the Bank of Russia listed cryptocurrencies and stablecoins among the major threats to the country's financial markets and monetary sovereignty. The central bank warned that the spread of crypto assets could weaken the ruble, cause heavy financial losses for retail investors and fuel the shadow economy, and it called for tougher enforcement against unlicensed platforms. Under current rules, Russian retail investors face an annual trading cap of about 3,700 dollars through licensed brokers. The policy document reflects a dual approach: using crypto assets to settle international trade and bypass sanctions is permitted, but domestic use remains tightly restricted, since the bank says wider adoption would disrupt monetary tools and complicate inflation and interest rate management.

Reuters reported that vessel transits through Hormuz fell to 14 a day over the weekend, below the 10 day average and far under the more than 100 daily transits recorded before the US and Israeli war on Iran began. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright told Bloomberg that oil flows through Hormuz averaged 10 million barrels a day over the past week, about two thirds of pre war levels. Sahmino's own price data showed Brent at 107.96 dollars as of 19:28 Tehran time on Tuesday, September 15, up 1.65 percent on the day.
