Transcript
Today, Sunday the sixth of September, each DARA unit traded about a third below the value of its own assets. The fund's redemption value was published at eight hundred twenty nine thousand four hundred seventy six rials. The closing board price, though, was five hundred fifty two thousand nine hundred twenty three rials. The difference between the two is close to two hundred seventy six thousand rials per unit. Among the actively traded funds on the Tehran exchange, this one carries the widest gap to net asset value. The units had risen over the past month, but today they closed lower than yesterday. On the same day the Tehran all share index rose one point eight five percent and set a fresh record. The gap means the price the market pays differs from the value the fund puts on its own holdings. On the fifth of September, retail selling in this fund ran ahead of retail buying. Look at the card together: one month return, distance to the yearly high, and market value. The fund's file on Codal is open too; the latest portfolio statement covers the month to July. Two shapes lie ahead: the gap narrows, or it stays open as it has for months. Watch four things: the redemption value, turnover, retail flow, and the index itself. Today in one sentence: the market paid, for each unit, two thirds of what that unit holds.
