Transcript

Yesterday Tehran's stock market passed seven million points for the first time, and retail money came with it. The main index rose two point four two percent and closed at seven million and seventy four thousand. Retail investors took seventy five percent of the buy side on the Tehran board. On Saturday they were net sellers, and by Tuesday they had turned net buyers. The heaviest names, from Bank Tejarat to Khouzestan Steel, all closed green. But in the two heavy bank names, retail net was negative and institutions did the buying. Across eight readings, almost everything we track moved higher yesterday. Eighteen carat gold reached twenty three million six hundred and twenty three thousand tomans. That leaves it just zero point two two percent below its record of the fifth of September. The global ounce fell overnight, so what lifted gold here was the exchange rate. Today the central bank offers one hundred thousand coins as salaf bonds. The free dollar now stands about forty percent above the Exchange Centre rate. Five things to watch today. Yesterday's verdict is clear: gold and the bourse won almost in step. So, retail money came back. Our reading: the index above seven million to week's end. A share or a coin?
