Tehran's Gold and Silver Funds Jumped Up to 6.1% Today While Global Bullion Barely Moved (Saturday, August 22, 2026)

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, at least 10 Tehran Stock Exchange gold and silver funds rose between 4.4% and 6.1%, several hitting their highest closes since May or June, while global gold held near $4,607 an ounce and silver near $69 an ounce, both essentially flat. Tehran's Emami gold coin rose 4.76% and 18-karat gold 5.7%, both far outpacing the 1.74% rise in the free-market dollar.

Several Tehran gold and silver funds jumped more than six percent today, while global gold barely moved at all. The Zargar gold fund alone rose almost six percent today, the sharpest gain among gold and silver funds. Zargar rose six percent, while global gold was actually slightly lower at the same hours. Today this fund traded about four percent above its own net asset value. Zargar, Noghrin, Rose Toranj and Jame Tala were the four funds with the sharpest gains today. Record subscriptions in the Yas and Silva silver funds last week had already set the stage. Zargar's trading volume today ran close to twice its twenty session average. Tehran's coin, gold and dollar all moved today, but each by a very different amount. The Rose Toranj gold fund alone now manages more than twelve trillion tomans.
