On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Tehran's free-market dollar retreated to about 200,000 tomans this evening after a two-day surge that had taken it to a peak of 204,820 tomans; global gold, domestic 18-karat gold and the Emami gold coin fell together. A day earlier, Central Bank Governor Abdolnasser Hemmati had announced $175 million a day in FX supply and a plan to allocate $20 billion to industry by year-end, calling the exchange-rate gap "temporary."

The dollar slipped back to two hundred thousand tomans this evening in Tehran. Today's dip only unwound part of the dollar's two day jump, not all of it. The dollar had climbed as high as two hundred four thousand eight hundred twenty tomans this morning. Over three days, the dollar rose from two hundred one thousand tomans to today's peak, then reversed. That climb began on Sunday, when the dollar first crossed two hundred thousand tomans. The main driver behind today's reversal was the central bank governor's remarks yesterday. Global gold, domestic gold and the Emami coin all fell alongside the dollar today. Hemmati said the exchange rate gap is temporary and should not change currency policy. He also announced average daily supply of one hundred seventy five million dollars. If that intervention works, the dollar could fall back below two hundred thousand tomans. But the dollar is still higher than Sunday's level of two hundred one thousand tomans. Dollar, gold and coin, all three were under the market's microscope today. Read the full story on Sahmino dot com. Do you think this pullback will hold?
