Real Value of Iranians' Purchases Fell 1.3 Percent in Mordad 1405 From a Year Earlier

Sep 12, 2026

Payment network Shaparak's latest report, analyzed by Ecoiran on Saturday, September 12, 2026 (21 Shahrivar 1405), covers household payment transactions for Mordad 1405 (late July to late August 2026). Ecoiran adjusted Shaparak's transaction values using the Statistical Center of Iran's consumer price index and divided the result by transaction count, finding that the real value of the average Iranian purchase fell 1.3 percent in Mordad 1405 compared with Mordad 1404 (a year earlier).

Per the report, while transaction counts have posted positive year over year growth from Ordibehesht through Mordad 1405 and returned to their pre war average, the real value of each purchase has declined, a trend Ecoiran said could point to a shrinking household consumption basket.
