Drone Attack Halts Saudi Arabia's East West Oil Pipeline

Several drones launched from Iraqi territory struck Saudi Arabia's East to West oil pipeline on Friday, September 11, 2026 (20 Shahrivar 1405), forcing a temporary halt to the pipeline, which carries about 4 to 5 percent of global oil supply and is Saudi Arabia's only alternative route bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi officials traced the launch site to Iraq's Maysan province near the Iranian border, and Iraq agreed to Iran's request to join a joint investigation into the attack's origin.
